This presentation rely on a research project proposing a characterization of the ordinary landscape of Cote-de-Beaupré, the littoral exurban territory marking the easternmost limit of Quebec City’s metropolitan area. The study is particularly interested in the way such landscapes are perceived in the representations of their inhabitants and in the collective memory, as well as the manner in which they become, in time, vectors of local identity. This work’s fundamental thesis stipulates that more sensitive and durable interventions within contemporary territories require better knowledge and integration of the “holistic” nature of ordinary landscapes. A few example of works are given thru the presentation!
