Lagoon plant landscape

Rossella Filigheddu | Simonetta Bagella | Emmanuele Farris

The seminar consists of two parts: 10 hours of front lectures and 10 hours of field-studies and practice. The theoretical part will focus on the species, the populations (meta), the commu- nities, the habitats, the ecosystems of lagoon environments. We will discuss the difference between flora and vegetation as well as the richness and density of the flora. The seminar will also focus on the interpretation of floristic data, elements of biogeography of lagoon environments, the analysis of biodi- versity: alpha , beta, gamma and landscape diversity. We will study the scale of coastal and lagoon systems in landscape ecology as well as the structure of landscapes and coastal la- goons: genesis, heterogeneity, patches and matrices, dynam- ics of the lagoon landscapes, disturbance and fragmentation and ecosystemic and chorologic functions in the definition of the micro-landscape of the lagoon. We will show how vegeta- tion can be used as a tool for the analysis and classification
of the lagoon landscapes by presenting a vegetation analysis and the main distribution patterns of vegetation in the area

of Oristano. We will analyse the main plant habitats. Meth- ods will be provided for identification and attribution of field codes in accordance with the Habitat Directive 43/92. The field experience will consist of visits to lagoons and ponds around Oristano.
